THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) GIVEN TO FLY jumped slow, losing one length.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (13h56)
b) At the 350m PRINCESS OF BAYEUX was checked and lost position when tightened for galloping room between MON PAPILLON and PLAYFUL JOULES, which was carried inwards by MEG'S LEGACY, which shifted in without sufficient correction. During this incident, both MON PAPILLON and PLAYFUL JOULES were turned and became unbalanced for a number of strides.
Jockey C Zackey was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of MEG'S LEGACY, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to PRINCESS OF BAYEUX, MON PAPILLON and PLAYFUL JOULES at the 350m. Jockey C Zackey signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in races for a period of 10 days. (Dates: 01/08/2026 to 10/08/2026, both dates inclusive).
c) Leaving the 300m, GIVEN TO FLY was steadied and directed outwards when unable to secure a clear run between the inside running rail and BLACK PATH.
d) LITTLE NIMBUS had difficulty securing clear running between the 200m and the 50m.
e) Jockey A Fortune was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of ELUSIVE GIFT, he misused his crop by striking this filly more than 10 times (13) in the race. Jockey A Fortune signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R3 600.00.
f) Jockey A Fortune was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline C on the use of the crop) in that he mis-used his crop by striking ELUSIVE GIFT on consecutive strides. Jockey A Fortune signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1 000.00.
g) MONEY EXTRACTOR, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer DA McLachlan was advised. (TJ)
h) ELUSIVE GIFT, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GW Ennion was advised. (TJ)
JOCKEY CHANGES:
a) JP van der Merwe rode GIVEN TO FLY. (advised 13h20 on 20260718) (Jockey A Domeyer stood down by the Medical Officer. Rule 25.12 not applied).
