THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FRERE JACQUES was slow, losing two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels, and no retests were recorded. b) The Stipendiary Board called a race review into the start with regard to FRERE JACQUES in stall gate 7. It was established, on reviewing the patrol films from the various angles, that FRERE JACQUES had been impeded by the Handler allocated to him when he attempted to settle this gelding as the start was effected. In terms of Rule 61.5.10.2, this gelding was declared a non-runner. c) Jockey M van Rensburg reported that GUNBOAT took no interest in running. The Veterinarian was requested to examine. d) ARIOVISTUS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer M Peter, acting on behalf of Trainer A P Peter, was advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. THE VETERINARIAN REPORTED: a) GUNBOAT not striding out in front. b) FRERE JACQUES mild post-race distress. c) CHIEFTAIN'S SHIELD fatigued. SCRATCHED: a) FATHER CHRISTMAS swollen right hind (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies). DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: a) FRERE JACQUES declared a non-runner in terms of Rule 61.5.10.2.
