THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (JN) : a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. b) NEXT OF KIN over raced in the early stages. c) In the concluding stages EL DANTE had to check to avoid the heels of TROMBOLINES, which hung out from the 300m and shifted out away from the crop, when on the immediate inside of NORDIC CHIEF, which shifted in away from the crop towards EL DANTE. Thereafter, TROMBOLINES and NORDIC CHIEF came together and bumped, and then came together and brushed shortly before the finish. d) An Objection was lodged by Jockey S Moodley on behalf of the second placed horse, NORDIC CHIEF against the winner TROMBOLINES (G Lerena) on the grounds of interference in the concluding stages. After considering the video footage and the evidence presented, the Board overruled the Objection, and the Judges' result was allowed to stand. In arriving at this decision, the Board considered that both TROMBOLINES and NORDIC CHIEF contributed to any interference suffered between them. Jockey Moodley's deposit was refunded. e) Jockey G Lerena was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of TROMBOLINES, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to NORDIC CHIEF (S Moodley) and EL DANTE (M Van Rensburg) in the concluding stages. Jockey Lerena signed an Admission of Guilt and was given a 7 days' suspension (Dates to be advised). f) TROMBOLINES, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M F de Kock was advised (MM). THE VETERINARIAN REPORTED : a) COGNAC : Returned post-race having cast the left front shoe. SCRATCHINGS : a) Nil. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: a) None.
