THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SPIRIT jumped awkwardly outwards and was slow into stride. b) YAMAZAKI jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (13h47) b) Leaving the 300m, BOMBERS IN THE SKY shifted in sharply and bumped DIAMOND ROCK. c) At the 250m, MUTINY IN HEAVEN (IRE) went amiss and was immediately eased out of the race by Jockey R Fourie. YAMAZAKI, which was following, had to be checked and took an awkward stride as a consequence. MUTINY IN HEAVEN (IRE) was attended to on course by the Veterinarian. This precluded Jockey R Fourie from weighing in. In terms of Rule 66.2, the Stewards were satisfied that MUTINY IN HEAVEN (IRE) had carried the correct weight. d) At the 200m, NOBLE HERO shifted out away from the crop and had to be straightened. e) Jockey O Noach reported that GROOVEJET made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinarian was requested to examine this gelding. f) BOURBON KING, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer C Dixon, acting on behalf of Trainer WA Nel, was advised. (TJ) g) CAPTAINS ALLIANCE, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer A Alsop, acting on behalf of Trainer VH Marshall, was advised. (TJ) JOCKEY CHANGES: a) Nil THE VETERINARIAN REPORTED: a) GROOVEJET - examined post-race. Abnormal respiratory noise. b) MUTINY IN HEAVEN (IRE) - fractured right front carpus. Humanely euthanised. A specimen was collected for analysis. Trainer J Crawford was advised. (Dr E Reynders). SCRATCHED: a) IN MOTION - not eating up. Rule 53.5 applied. (declared 15h38 on 20260724)
