THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MUNABADHA (*C F Dicken) and PHOENIX (S Khumalo) were slow losing one length. b) MS FLOWER POWER (M Yeni) stumbled leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 900m, BOLD LEAH (C Bantam) was carried out significantly by MYNAGE (*J R Syster) which had broken down and was eased out of the race by Apprentice Syster. b) In the concluding stages, MS FLOWER POWER (M Yeni) had to ease when awkwardly placed between BELLE OF BELIZE (G Lerena) and IN LIMBO (C Murray) which shifted out away from the crop. A race review was called by a member of the Stipendiary Board which was followed by him lodging an Objection on behalf of the 3rd placed horse MS FLOWER POWER (M Yeni) against the 2nd placed horse IN LIMBO (C Murray), on the grounds of interference in the concluding stages. The Objection Board after giving regards to the evidence put forward by the respective parties during the Objection Hearing, and reviewing the film of the race, was of the opinion that this incident had affected the result of the race and that, but for the interference, MS FLOWER POWER would have finished ahead of IN LIMBO and therefore upheld the Objection and amended the Judges result to read: 1st 11 PHOENIX (S Khumalo) 2nd 9 MS FLOWER POWER (M Yeni) 3rd 6 IN LIMBO (C Murray) 4th 2 GAL GADOT (D Schwarz) 5th 5 BELLE OF BELIZE (G Lerena) c) Jockey S Brown reported that he felt something amiss with LADY FORTUNE in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) PHOENIX (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A G Laird advised (LB). e) Jockey S Khumalo was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he struck the horse PHOENIX more than twelve times in the entire race. Jockey Khumalo signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R2000 was imposed. When assessing the penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times (17), as well as Jockey Khumalo's record with regard to this Rule and Guideline and the fact that he won the race. JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) MUNABADHA raced equipped with blinkers (declared 15 December 2020 at 10H25). b) GAL GADOT raced equipped with alumites in front and unshod behind (declared 19 December 2020 at 08H12). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) MYNAGE broke down left front. Humanely euthanized. Samples collected for analysis. Assistant Trainer A Ndzilana advised (NHA). b) LADY FORTUNE coughing. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
