THE STARTER REPORTED: a) NOON DAY GUN got its head into the adjacent stall and had to be corrected. Thereafter, NOON DAY GUN jumped awkwardly and was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (14h21) b) MELA STRENGTH was hanging in in the straight. c) Jockey S Veale was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of DEVIL A SAINT, he misused his crop by striking this gelding more than 10 times (11) in the race. Jockey S Veale signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1 800.00. d) ONE MAGIC, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
