THE STARTER REPORTED: a) UNVARNISHED GOLD stumbled leaving the stalls. b) EMPRESS OF PEACE jumped inwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels, and no retests were recorded. b) TREX ON FIRE commenced to over-race in the early and middle stages and thereafter tired from the 200m. In view of this performance, the Veterinarian was requested to examine. c) Jockey R A Venniker reported that UNVARNISHED GOLD changed stride continually in running. The Veterinarian was requested to examine d) LIGHTINTHEWOODS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
