THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (DM) : a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. b) Shortly after the start JAZZ CAFE, which was over racing, rolled out off the heels of CHILL IN THE AIR, which commenced to over race and hang in throughout. c) Approaching the 1000m Jockey L Hewitson felt something amiss and eased KING PELLES out of the race. Jockey Hewitson appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding his ride on this gelding. Jockey Hewitson explained that he felt KING PELLES start to fade at the 1000m and when he asked this gelding for an effort, it did not respond. As a result, he eased this gelding out of the race. In view of this, the Veterinarian was requested to examine. d) Approaching the 150m Jockey R Fourie (AHEAD OF THE FACTS) was accidentally struck on the arm by Jockey M Yeni's (JAZZ CAFE) crop. e) HOLDING THUMBS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G S Kotzen was advised (MM). THE VETERINARIAN REPORTED : a) KING PELLES : Not striding out behind. Further assessment to be carried out on Monday 27 July 2026. b) MAGIC VERSE : Abnormal respiratory noise. c) FUTURE PEARL : Not striding out left hind. SCRATCHINGS : a) ENFLAME : Elevated temperature (Trainer - 23.07.2026/10h12). Rule 53.5 applies. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: a) None.
