THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WARRIOR OF ROYALTY was nervous in the stalls and stood awkwardly. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) RAVILIOUS recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer JVA Strydom was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level. (13h19) b) IMAGINABLE was hanging in badly from the 300m. c) RAVILIOUS stumbled shortly after the finish, fell and dislodged Apprentice B Soodoo. RAVILIOUS was attended to on course by the Veterinarian. Apprentice B Soodoo was attended to by the paramedics and transported to hospital for further observation. This precluded Apprentice B Soodoo from being able to weigh in. In terms of Rule 66.2, the Stewards were satisfied that RAVILIOUS had carried the correct weight. d) IMAGINABLE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer DG Smith was advised. (LM) THE VETERINARIAN REPORTED: a) RAVILIOUS - broke down. Humanely euthanised. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
