THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CIRCUS LIGHTS refused to jump. The starting stall certificate for this gelding has been withdrawn. Trainer G J Maroun was advised. b) LONGSWORD was restless in the stalls. c) ROCK MY BOAT reared in the stalls and thereafter was slow into stride. d) SOUTHAMPTON jumped awkwardly inwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels, and no retests were recorded. b) Apprentice G Samo-Burthia reported that COMING IN HOT did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinarian was requested to examine. c) Apprentice T Mayhew was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he, as the rider of SPIRIT OF GABZ, misused his crop by striking this gelding more than ten times (12). Apprentice T Mayhew signed an Admission of Guilt, and a fine of R1,800 was imposed. d) In view of the Starter's report with regard to CIRCUS LIGHTS, this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn, and he is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 30 days and until such time as he proves tractable loading and jumping with a companion on two consecutive Racedays. Suspension dates: 2 August 2026 to 1 September 2026. CIRCUS LIGHTS may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer G J Maroun was advised. e) SPIRIT OF GABZ, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Spies was advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) ROCK MY BOAT was ridden by Jockey C Habib (declared 1 August 2026 at 16H19). THE VETERINARIAN REPORTED: a) COMING IN HOT not striding out left hind. b) ROCK MY BOAT mouth injury. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
