THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CHAMPAGNE MAC and FUTANO lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (DM) : a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. b) Shortly after the start TRAFALGAR SQUARE and BLESS ME FRED came together and brushed. Thereafter, BLESS ME FRED commenced to hang in throughout. c) Shortly before the finish, Jockey R A Venniker (BLESS ME FRED) hesitated with her riding in anticipation of being awkwardly placed on the heels of JANE'S VISION, which rolled out. d) Jockey G Lerena reported that he felt something amiss with MIA'S ATHENA in the running. The Veterinarian was requested to examine. e) In view of the performances of INTREPID (10.15 lengths and 6/1 in the betting) and FUTANO (11.25 lengths and 40/1 in the betting), the Veterinarian was requested to examine. f) JANE'S VISION, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M L Roberts was advised (DZ). Trainer Roberts was questioned with regard to the improved performance of JANE'S VISION today, as compared to this mare's previous performance. Trainer Roberts could offer the Board no suitable explanation. His attention was drawn to the Rules pertaining to in and out running.
