THE STARTER REPORTED: a) On arrival at the start and at the request of Jockey S Naidoo, TAKEMETOTHEMOON was examined by the Veterinarian and passed suitable to race. b) TAKEMETOTHEMOON was unruly behind the stalls, stubborn loading and nervous in the stalls. c) GOOD SHINE jumped awkwardly inwards. d) BLUE DAME jumped slow, losing two lengths. e) GOLDEN FIFTIES and CRIMSON CLOVER were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (11h31) b) Permission was granted for STONE OF SCONE and TAKEMETOTHEMOON to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to the start. c) STORM BURST proved difficult proceeding to the start. Trainer DA McKenzie was advised that should this gelding behave in a similar manner in future engagements, it may be suspended. d) At the 600m, STONE OF SCONE shifted outwards slightly and made heavy contact with J LORDI, which shifted inwards. In this incident, the hindquarters of J LORDI were turned outwards. e) TAKEMETOTHEMOON was hanging in from the 300m. f) GOLDEN FIFTIES shifted both ways away from the crop from the 300m. g) J LORDI shifted outwards away from the crop in the latter stages. h) Jockey M van Rensburg reported that GREEN POINT changed stride on a number of occasions in running. The Veterinarian was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer WGC Miller was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. i) CRIMSON CLOVER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer JP Nel was advised. (LM) j) STONE OF SCONE, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer DG Smith was advised. (LM) THE VETERINARIAN REPORTED: a) GREEN POINT - examined post-race. Nothing obvious detected. b) GOLDEN FIFTIES - abnormal respiratory noise. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
