The start of this race was delayed due to the delay in the previous race, as well as the incidents that occurred subsequently. During the loading process it was established that the track maintenance team was still busy with divot repairs. The loaded horses were released from the starting stalls. Thereafter, during the commencement of the loading process, STREET OUTLAW kicked the back gates. STREET OUTLAW was released, examined by the Veterinarian and subsequently withdrawn. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) STREET OUTLAW kicked the back gates during the loading process. This gelding was released, examined by the Veterinarian and subsequently withdrawn. b) UBUKHWEBEZANA lost 2 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (SR) : a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. b) JOHNNY APPLESEED took an awkward stride at the 300m and thereafter Jockey K Matsunyane reported that this gelding felt awkward in its action. The Veterinarian was requested to examine. c) In the concluding stages CITY OF LOVE was steadied and directed outwards in anticipation of running into restricted room between MISS WORLD and FUTURE FLO, which hung in and shifted in from the 250m. d) Apprentice Q Ngcobo (AFRICAN SKYLINE) completed a satisfactory qualifying ride. e) MAPHAKA, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer N Roscoe acting on behalf of Trainer D Kannemeyer was advised (MM). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) JOHNNY APPLESEED: Ownership - Mr M N Prinsloo. Colours - Black and white stripes, gold sleeves and cap (Sold with engagement - 06.08.2026). THE VETERINARIAN REPORTED : a) JOHNNY APPLESEED : Nothing obvious detected.
