THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LYRICS AND SONGS was stubborn loading. b) MONKEY'S WEDDING was stubborn loading and nervous in the stalls. c) WINDOW TO MY SOUL, CAPRANICA and STRAIGHT RED jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (11h48) b) Permission was granted for STRAIGHT RED to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to the start. c) DEAD POETS SOCIETY and MONKEY'S WEDDING came together and bumped on a number of occasions shortly after the start. d) Approaching the first turn, DEAD POETS SOCIETY had to be steadied momentarily when awkwardly placed on the inside of LYRICS AND SONGS, which was carried in slightly by MASTEROFTHEBAROQUE. Jockey A Fortune (MASTEROFTHEBAROQUE) appeared before the Board and was advised to ensure there is sufficient room before shifting his mount inwards in the race. e) MONKEY'S WEDDING had to be steadied and switched outwards when DEAD POETS SOCIETY shifted inwards at approximately the 1000m. Apprentice G Dookhit was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of DEAD POETS SOCIETY, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to MONKEY'S WEDDING at the 1000m. Apprentice G Dookhit signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 days. (Dates: 15/08/2026 to 21/08/2026, both dates inclusive). f) CAPRANICA was hanging in from the 300m. g) In view of the performance of FLEET RETURN, the Veterinarian was requested to examine this colt. h) MASTEROFTHEBAROQUE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised. (LM) i) DEAD POETS SOCIETY, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer JVA Strydom was advised. (LM) THE VETERINARIAN REPORTED: a) FLEET RETURN - examined post-race. Not striding out right hind. b) LUCA DA WHEELS - scalp wound right hind. SCRATCHED: a) ISLAND JEWEL - jarred up left front.
