THE STARTER REPORTED: a) QUEEN OF THE SPEAR was stubborn to load. b) YOUR LADYSHIP became restless in the stalls shortly before the start was effected. c) KALI BWANA jumped awkwardly, losing 3 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (DM) : a) SOVEREIGN GEM jumped outwards and ASGARDIAN QUEEN jumped inwards leaving the starting stalls. b) QUEEN OF THE SPEAR commenced to give ground to the field and was not persevered with from the 400m. Thereafter, Jockey K A Brewer reported that this filly took no interest in the running. The Veterinarian was requested to examine. The Stipendiary Board has exercised the provisions of Rule 49.7, and this filly is suspended pending a Veterinary Certificate prior to its next racing engagement. Trainer G van Zyl (Jnr) will be advised. c) At the 150m Jockey R A Venniker (WEDDING VOW) and Apprentice D Ramkhalawon (KALI BWANA) accidentally dropped their crops. d) Apprentice D Pillay reported that he felt something amiss with TIME IN PARIS in the running. The Veterinarian was requested to examine. e) In view of the performance of ASGARDIAN QUEEN (10.80 lengths and 33/1 in the betting), the Veterinarian was requested to examine. f) WEDDING VOW, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
