THE STARTER REPORTED: a) TARGARYEN KNIGHT lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (DM) : a) With the exception of GARDENER'S PRIDE, all horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels. b) GARDENER'S PRIDE was selected for the taking of specimens for TCO2. testing. The first specimen analysed at 14h35 revealed a level of over 36 TCO2. mmol/L. In terms of the Procedure for Total Carbon Dioxide (TCO2) analysis on Raceday, a second blood specimen was collected. Trainer Y Singh was informed that the second blood specimen, analysed at 14h45 had revealed a level of over the threshold of 38 mmol/L. Consequently, GARDENER'S PRIDE was scratched from this race in terms of the provisions of Rules 72.1.23; 4.2.14 and 4.2.18. (Withdrawn at 14h52, 7/1 in the betting). c) SLYTHERIN proved difficult to settle in the early stages. d) TARGARYEN KNIGHT was brushed out by PIED PIPER which jumped outwards leaving the starting stalls. Thereafter, TARGARYEN KNIGHT hung in from the 400m. e) STAR OF THE FUTURE raced wide around the turn and into the straight. Thereafter, Apprentice D D Louw reported that STAR OF THE FUTURE took no interest in the running. The Veterinarian was requested to examine. f) I AM INVICTUS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G van Zyl (Jnr) was advised (MM). THE VETERINARIAN REPORTED : a) STAR OF THE FUTURE : Nothing obvious detected. Returned post-race having cast the right front shoe. SCRATCHINGS : a) GARDENER'S PRIDE : Elevated TCO2 level.
