THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) NHLANHLA (A Mgudlwa) lost 3 lengths.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) Trainer L Forbes (DON'T TOUCH ME) will be advised that her runner failed to adequately parade and that should this gelding behave similarly in future, it may be suspended.
b) At the 1100m, DONE AND DUSTED (*J Gates) was momentarily inconvenienced when awkwardly placed on the inside of COMMAND COUNCIL (S Randolph) which rolled in.
c) At the 1100m, YAMASHITA'S GOLD (*K Brewer) struck the inside running rail.
d) STORM CRY (G Wright) raced wide around the turn and into the straight.
e) Between the 350m and the 100m, SWANKING (W Agrella) which rolled out and BOHEMIAN LAD (*J Jacobs) which was hanging in from the 400m, came together and bumped on at least 2 occasions.
f) Jockey A Mgudlwa reported that NHLANHLA (31.00 lengths) took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
g) Apprentice K Brewer reported that YAMASHITA'S GOLD (27.00 lengths) changed stride continually in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
h) In view of the performance of ROAD TO SCOTLAND (A Marcus) (43.00 lengths, 113/20 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
i) Jockey G Wright signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse STORM CRY more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey G Wright the Board considered the number of times (14) Jockey G Wright struck the horse STORM CRY, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey G Wright used his crop and his record (1) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R750 was imposed.
j) GREAT AFFAIR (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer N Kotzen advised (ML).
