THE STARTER REPORTED: a) RED CARDINAL lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (SR) : a) As the start was effected SESAME and NO PRESSURE came together and bumped. b) TEE DOG hung in on the latter part of the turn and into the straight. c) Approaching the 300m, HODGEPODGE was steadied when awkwardly placed between THOONSIL, which shifted out away from the crop, and SESAME, which rolled in. d) FINE WINE hung out from the 250m. e) RED CARDINAL and NO PRESSURE came together and bumped on two occasions between the 200m and the 150m. f) In view of the performances of HODGEPODGE (6.65 lengths and 5/1 in the betting) and SESAME (4.95 lengths and 33/10 in the betting), the Veterinarian was requested to examine. g) Apprentice G Samo-Burthia was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Appendix E; Guideline M), in that as the rider of THOONSIL, he misused his crop by striking this gelding more than ten times (11). Apprentice G Samo-Burthia signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1 800. h) NO PRESSURE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
