THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ALSFLAMINGBEAUTY (S Moodley) was slow into stride and lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) VASE (*M Zuma) shifted out away from the crop between the 400m and 300m. b) Jockey S Veale signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse NAOSHIMA more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey Veale the Board considered the number of times (14) Jockey Veale struck the horse NAOSHIMA, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey Veale used his crop, the fact that he won the race and his record (4) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R2500 was imposed. Jockey Veale was advised that the recent frequency with which he had appeared before the Board in respect of this Rule is unacceptable and thereafter, should he appear before the Board regarding a similar contravention in the near future, more severe sanctions may follow. c) In view of the performance of ALSFLAMINGBEAUTY (S Moodley) (8.60 lengths) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) NAOSHIMA (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) ALSFLAMINGBEAUTY : Not striding out right fore. SCRATCHINGS : a) DEEP THOUGHT : Not eating up (Trainer - 22.12.20/08h18). Rule 53.5 applies.
