THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DO RE MI (*J Jacobs) was squeezed out. b) RORY LONERGAN (M Yeni) lost 1 length. c) GREEN PHANTOM (*K Brewer) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Trainer F Robinson (JUST DIXIT) will be advised that his runner failed to adequately parade and that should this gelding behave similarly in future, it may be suspended. b) ZERO RATE (W Agrella) and GOTITALL (W Kennedy) over-raced in the early and middle stages. c) MOUNTAIN OF GOLD (S Randolph) was hanging out between the 1400m and 1200m. d) Jockey D Schwarz reported that PLEDGE OF HONOUR (26.80 lengths) took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Jockey M Yeni reported that he felt something amiss with RORY LONERGAN (21.50 lengths) in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) In view of the performances of MOUNTAIN OF GOLD (S Randolph) (22.30 lengths, 14/1 in the betting) and GOTITALL (W Kennedy) (37.10 lengths, 13/2 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these geldings. g) Jockey G Wright signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse ARMINIUS more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey G Wright the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey G Wright struck the horse ARMINIUS, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey G Wright used his crop and his record (1) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R750 was imposed. h) ALADO'S PRIDE (S Moodley), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M L Roberts advised (ML). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) MOUNTAIN OF GOLD raced with alumites in front, unshod behind (advised 21.12.20/14h23). b) JUST DIXIT raced equipped with blinkers (advised 26.12.20/08h55). c) SWEET WILLIAM raced without a tongue tie (advised 26.12.20/07h32). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) PLEDGE OF HONOUR : Not striding out left hind. b) RORY LONERGAN : Nothing obvious detected. c) MOUNTAIN OF GOLD : Returned post race having cast the left front shoe and spread the right front shoe. Not striding out right hind. d) GOTITALL : Not striding out left hind. e) ARMINIUS : Returned post race having cast the right front shoe.
