THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DEORSA (G Wright) kicked the back gates which resulted in CRUSADE'S STAR (S Randolph) becoming restless and rearing in the stalls. Trainer L Denysschen was advised to re-school CRUSADE'S STAR. b) MASANGO MACHINE (A Marcus) and FLYING PETER (K de Melo) were restless in the stalls. c) DECORATED (T Godden) lost 2 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start, GIMME A RAINBOW (B Jacobson) was bumped out by LORD CARO (R Danielson) which rolled out. b) LORD CARO (R Danielson) was hanging out from the 400m. Thereafter, Jockey R Danielson reported that he felt something amiss with LORD CARO (9.95 lengths) in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) Jockey M Yeni reported that he felt something amiss with SHAMOOSI (2.65 lengths) in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) Jockey A Marcus reported that MASANGO MACHINE (2.45 lengths) made an abnormal respiratory noise in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) An Inquiry will be opened into Jockey S Veale's (CUPID'S SONG) crop use in this Race. f) The saddle on SEVENTH SONG (S Moodley) slipped back in the running. This was confirmed by the Veterinary Surgeon. g) Jockey S Moodley signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse SEVENTH SONG more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey S Moodley the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey S Moodley struck the horse SEVENTH SONG, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey S Moodley used his crop, and his record (3) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R1000 was imposed. h) MEXICAN CATDANCE (L Hewitson), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer M Clarke acting on behalf of Trainer G B Puller advised (ML). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) GIMME A RAINBOW was ridden by Jockey B Jacobson (advised 30.12.20/09h54). b) SHAMOOSI raced without a tongue tie (advised 28.12.20/08h02).
