THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FEVER (R Danielson) kicked the back gates. b) PRINCE CHARMING (S Randolph) lost 2 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) FEVER (R Danielson) over-raced in the early and middle stages. Thereafter, in the concluding stages, this gelding was ridden in to race alongside STRAIGHT UP (*T Gumede) which was hanging out from the 250m. b) COOL APACHE (W Agrella) raced fiercely in the early and middle stages and compounded in the straight. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) At the 300m, BOLD MATADOR (A Arries) was bumped in by STRAIGHT UP (*T Gumede) which improved into a narrow run between BOLD MATADOR (A Arries) and SECRET DYNASTY (*K Strydom). d) At the 300m, BRIGADE (S Veale) shifted out to continue its run. e) Jockey A Mgudlwa reported that he felt something amiss with KING'S COVE (A Mgudlwa) (7.25 lengths) in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) Jockey A Arries reported that BOLD MATADOR (12.65 lengths) did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. g) Jockey R Danielson signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse FEVER more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey R Danielson the Board considered the number of times (18) Jockey R Danielson struck the horse FEVER, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey R Danielson used his crop and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R1000 was imposed. Additionally, Jockey R Danielson signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline C, in that he struck the horse FEVER more than three times on consecutive strides. Accordingly, a penalty of R750 was imposed. h) STRAIGHT UP (*T Gumede), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D C Howells advised (TN). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) SECRET DYNASTY was ridden by Apprentice K Strydom (claiming 2.5kg) (advised 31.12.20/11h13). b) FEVER was ridden by Jockey R Danielson (advised 01.01.21/10h24). c) COOL APACHE was ridden by W Agrella (advised 04.01.21/08h14).
