THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) PATRONAGE (S Moodley) lost many lengths.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) A race review was called into the start of this race, pertaining to PATRONAGE (S Moodley) drawn in stall gate 8. In this regard, it was established that, shortly after the start was effected, PATRONAGE threw its head into the neighbouring stall of gate 9. In reviewing this incident, the Board was of the view that, this gelding was not impeded by a handler nor by a faulty starting stall, any distance lost by PATRONAGE was as a result of its own behaviour and that when the start was effected, PATRONAGE (S Moodley) was in the correct starting stall. Therefore, no further action was taken and PATRONAGE was deemed to be a runner.
b) In view of the Starter's report with regard to PATRONAGE and the above report, this gelding's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 07.01.21 to the 13.01.21. PATRONAGE may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer M Roberts was advised. (SN)
c) LET'S GO FLY (B Jacobson) shifted out away from the crop from the 300m.
d) AUGUST RED (T Godden) was hanging in between the 300m and the 200m.
e) At the 250m, FLYING VISION (S Veale) was brushed in by SILVER CELEBRITY (*K Strydom) which rolled in marginally.
f) In view of the performance of EPIC SOLILOQUY (A Mgudlwa) (13.55 lengths, 50/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
g) Apprentice J Jacobs signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse HELLO AGAIN more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Apprentice J Jacobs the Board considered the number of times (14) Apprentice J Jacobs struck the horse HELLO AGAIN, the distance over which and manner in which, Apprentice J Jacobs used his crop, the fact that he won the race and his record (1) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R1000 was imposed.
h) Assistant Trainer C Eudey acting on behalf of Trainer M Miller appeared before the Board and was questioned with regard to the improved performance of HELLO AGAIN (*J Jacobs). Mr Eudey was unable to provide any suitable explanation. Mr Eudey's attention was drawn to the Rules pertaining to in and out running and advised that should this horse not maintain consistent form going forward, it may be suspended.
i) HELLO AGAIN (*J Jacobs), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer C Eudey acting on behalf of Trainer M Miller advised (TN).

a) PATRONAGE raced equipped with blinkers and pacifiers (advised 06.01.21/07h31).
