THE STARTER REPORTED
A) CUPPA JAVA was nervous in the stalls, slow away and lost 1 length.
B) XTRA SPECIAL was stubborn loading, slow away and lost 1 length.
C) SFORZANDO, LIBERTARIAN and SHEENA BEAN were slow away and lost 1 length respectively.
D) JUST SO EASY and QUE COSAS were nervous, jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls and reared as the start was effected.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED
A) QUE COSAS (X Ndlovu) rolled out under pressure in the concluding stages.
B) Apprentice X Jacobs reported that CUPPA JAVA did not stride out freely in the running. The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
C) Jockey T Gould reported that XTRA SPECIAL made an abnormal respiratory noise in the running. The Course Veterinary Surgeon.
D) Jockeys K Steyn (SFORZANDO) and D R Lerena (SHEENA BEAN) reported that they felt something amiss with their respective mounts in the running. The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
E) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning SHEENA BEAN, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this filly is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer M L Turner was advised.
F) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning SFORZANDO, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this filly is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer J V A Strydom was advised.
G) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning CUPPA JAVA, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this filly is suspended from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority for an indefinite period. In terms of Rule 49.7, a veterinary certificate for CUPPA JAVA must be submitted to the Veterinary Department of the National Horseracing Authority, before it can be entered for a race. CUPPA JAVA must also gallop for the NHRA veterinary department after which, if found fit to race, will be sent for specimen collection for analysis. Trainer G D Smith was advised.
H) The winner CINNABAR was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer G D Smith advised (PD).
