D) DUKE OF CARDS kicked the back gate in the stalls and was slow into stride. E) WICKED GRIN kicked the back gate in the stalls. F) MERAKI (AUS) was slow away and lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED A) Jockey X Ndlovu reported that DUKE OF CARDS changed stride continually in the running. The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. B) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning FLY MY FLAG, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this filly is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer S B Kotzen was advised. C) The winner THE HIGHWAY MAN was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer G D Smith advised (PD). D) The second placed horse BEETHOVEN was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Stable Employee G Venter acting on behalf of Trainer T J Laing advised (PD).
