THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CHEVRON (*J Gates) was slow into stride. b) SO LONG SPRING (*J R Syster) was slow losing two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 1700m, AFRAAD (D Schwarz) was steadied momentarily in anticipation of running onto the heels of OYSTER KING (*C F Dicken) which was encouraged forward to secure a run on the inside running rail. Apprentice Dicken the rider of OYSTER KING appeared before the Board in the presence of the National Riding Master, and was advised to ensure that he is aware of the proximity of fellow riders when shifting ground in races. b) Jockey P Strydom reported that ROCKY PATH took no interest in running and did not persevere with his riding from the 300m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) LIVERPOOL LEGEND (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S J Gray advised (DR). d) SO LONG SPRING (*J R Syster), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee P Jevu advised (DR). JOCKEY CHANGES: None.
