THE STARTER REPORTED
A) JACKSON POLLOCK was nervous in the stalls.
B) AT THE OFFICE was slow away and lost 1 length.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED
A) At approximately the 400m, RUBY RHYTHM (T Gould) had to steady momentarily and switch in to continue its run to avoid running onto the heels of BUSH FEVER (L Mxothwa).
B) Leaving the 300m, BUSH FEVER (L Mxothwa) which was awkwardly placed between NINJINSKY'S SON (S Fortune) and JURIST (E Webber) which was hanging in, had to steady momentarily. Thereafter, JURIST continued to hang in throughout.
C) Jockey E Webber signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he struck the horse JURIST more than 12 times in the entire race (thirteen (13) times). A penalty of a R750 fine was imposed.
D) Apprentice J Mphanya reported that he felt something amiss with WHAT A STORY in the running and did not persevere with his ride from the 300m. The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
E) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning WHAT A STORY, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer J V A Strydom was advised.
F) Apprentice J Mphanya signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the correct carded weight on the horse WHAT A STORY and HUPERNIKAO (Race 6). A penalty of a R1500 fine was imposed.
G) The winner NINJINSKY'S SON was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer G Paddock advised (PD).
H) The second placed horse JURIST was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer G Paddock advised (PD).
