THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LAUREL LANE (*T Gumede) fly-jumped and was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) FLYMEFREE (D Dillon) over-raced in the early stages. b) At the 1400m, RAIN WEAR (S Randolph) had to ease when awkwardly placed on the inside of GYPSY MAGIC (*G Pieterse) which was carried in by BONACIA (A Mgudlwa) which shifted in sharply for no apparent reason. c) HOROSCOPE (S Veale) shifted out away from the crop from the 200m. d) EMERALD ISLA (S Moodley) and RAIN WEAR (S Randolph) shifted out away from the crop in the concluding stages. e) Jockey S Randolph signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse RAIN WEAR more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey S Randolph the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey S Randolph struck the horse RAIN WEAR, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey S Randolph used his crop and his record (1) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R750 was imposed. f) Jockey S Moodley signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse EMERALD ISLA more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey S Moodley the Board considered the number of times (14) Jockey S Moodley struck the horse EMERALD ISLA, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey S Moodley used his crop and his record (2) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed. g) Apprentice G Pieterse signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse GYPSY MAGIC more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Apprentice G Pieterse the Board considered the number of times (15) Apprentice G Pieterse struck the horse GYPSY MAGIC, the distance over which and manner in which, Apprentice G Pieterse used his crop and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a warning was imposed. h) HOROSCOPE (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Y Govender advised (ML). i) RAIN WEAR (S Randolph), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A Rivalland advised (TN). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) GYPSY MAGIC raced equipped with blinkers (advised 15.01.21/08h08). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) No report.
