THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) STONE OF DESTINY (S Moodley) over-raced in the early and middle stages. Thereafter, this gelding came under pressure and gave ground in the straight. b) FORT WYLIE (A Arries) raced awkwardly in the straight. c) Jockey S Vealesigned an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse LINNBARA more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey S Veale the Board considered the number of times (14) Jockey S Veale struck the horse LINNBARA, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey S Veale used his crop, the fact that he won the race and his record (2) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1500 was imposed. d) LINNBARA (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer N Kotzen advised (TN).
