THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ZEPHIRA RAIN (*C F Dicken) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. b) ILHA DA VARLETTE (S Brown) stumbled leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) GLOWTORIA (C Zackey) shifted in away from the crop from the 150m. b) COUNTESS HELEN (D Schwarz) took a number of awkward strides throughout. Thereafter Jockey D Schwarz reported that he felt something amiss with COUNTESS HELEN in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) Jockey C Zackey reported that GLOWTORIA did not stride out freely and made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) Jockey S Khumalo reported that SEE YOU TYGER (1,25 lengths) changed stride continually in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. e) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning COUNTESS HELEN, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this filly is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer S von Willingh Smit was advised. e) MAY QUEEN (P Strydom), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer H E Adamson advised (LN). JOCKEY CHANGES: None.
