THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GLOBAL DRUMMER (M van Rensburg), TARSUS (T Gould) and OMEGA ONSLAUGHT (K Minnie) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Leaving the 400m AQUA DELTA (E Webber) had to steady for a number of strides and switch out off the heels of KIMBERLEY STAR (L Mxothwa) which had come to the end of its run. b) Jockey E Webber was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he struck AQUA DELTA more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey Webber signed an admission of guilt and was fined R 1000,00. c) Jockey X Ndlovu, the rider of PURPLE DIAMOND reported he felt something amiss with this gelding. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine. d) Jockey L Bester reported that WOLFGANG made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine. e) SULLENBERGER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
