THE STARTER REPORTED: a) AGAINST THE GRAIN (L Hewitson) and OSCAR WILDE (C Zackey) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 1200m, DIORAMA (*N Klink) and SAMURAI JACK (*P Mxoli) came together and bumped. b) Jockey S Khumalo reported that DAN THE LAD made an abnormal respiratory noise in running and did not persevere with his riding from the 200m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) Jockey C Murray was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he struck WYLIE WENCH more than twelve times in the entire race. Jockey C Murray signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R1,500-00 was imposed. When assessing this penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times the crop was used (15) and the fact that he won the race. d) WYLIE WENCH (C Murray), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M Azzie advised (DR). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) STORM COMMANDER raced without blinkers (declared 22 January 2021 at 16H16). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) DAN THE LAD examined post race, nothing obvious detected and no respiratory noise detected post race. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
