THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SOFIA ERIN (T Godden) was stubborn to load. b) IT MUST BE LOVE (*G Pieterse), MIND SET (S Moodley), SEEMYVISION (S Randolph) and WILDLY IN LOVE (*K Brewer) were restless in the stalls. c) MAGICALLEE (*T Gumede) was squeezed out shortly after the start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) IT MUST BE LOVE (*G Pieterse) and SWEETSCENTEDGREEN (R Danielson) were carried out by BELLA BELLARINA (A Mgudlwa) which jumped out. b) A race review, pertaining to SOLAR FLARE (*J Jacobs), drawn in stall gate 4, and SOFIA ERIN (T Godden), drawn in stall gate 9, was called into the start of this race. In this regard, it was established that the starting gates of SOLAR FLARE (*J Jacobs) and SOFIA ERIN (T Godden) opened fractionally earlier compared to the remainder of the field. In assessing these incidents, the Board considered that with regard to: SOFIA ERIN It was not apparent from the footage that this filly had obtained any advantage as a consequence of its gate opening earlier. Therefore, SOFIA ERIN was deemed to be a runner; and SOLAR FLARE After the gates had opened early, the right side starting gate had bounced back and impeded SOLAR FLARE (*J Jacobs) which resulted in it not being able to obtain a fair start. Therefore, the Board deemed this filly to be a non-runner. c) CALULO (*M Zuma), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M L Roberts advised (SC). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) SOLAR FLARE raced with a compression mask. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) SOLAR FLARE : Eye injury and lame left front. Vet certificate required prior to re-entry. SCRATCHINGS : a) BECKONING BEAUTY : Reserve runner. b) SOLAR FLARE : Non-runner.
