THE STARTER REPORTED A) SAMARA was slow into stride. B) CRISSY'S GOLD was slow away and lost 1 length. C) ALLURING was stubborn loading, squeezed out at the start and was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED A) GIFT OF PEACE (S Naidoo) refused to canter to the start and had to be led by a Handler. Trainer G D Smith was advised that, in terms of Rule 93.2.4, this filly is suspended until such time as it proves tractable whilst cantering to the start, on a race day. B) Jockey S Khathi signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he struck the horse ALLURING more than 12 times in the entire race. A penalty of a R1000 fine was imposed. C) Jockey L Bester signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he struck the horse CRISSY'S GOLD more than 12 times in the entire race. A penalty of a R750 fine was imposed. D) Trainer G D Smith signed an admission for a contravention of Rule 11.2.8 in that he failed to present GIFT OF PEACE correctly equipped when presented in the parade ring. A penalty of warning was imposed. E) The winner AUTUMN SKY was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer D A McKenzie advised (LM). F) The second placed horse CRISSY'S GOLD was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer J V A Strydom advised (LM).
