THE STARTER REPORTED A) CARIOCA and TRAVEL IN STYLE were slow away and lost 1 length respectively. B) DUCHESS OF BOURBON was slow away and lost 3 lengths. Trainer A C Greeff was advised to re-school this mare prior to its next engagement. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED A) Jockey S Khathi signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he struck the horse CARIOCA more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding on a suitable penalty, the Board took into consideration Jockey S Khathi's poor record in relation to Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) and therefore a penalty of a R1500 fine was imposed.
