THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) MY BESTIE (S Mbhele) and NORTHERN SONG (W Kennedy) raced wide into the first turn and were ridden forward from the 1000m to secure positions closer to the inside running rail. b) DUBAI LIGHTS (L Ferraris) raced wide without cover on the bend and into the straight. c) At the 400m MY BESTIE fell and dislodged Jockey S Mbhele. JUAN CARLOS (G Behr), which was racing behind MY BESTIE (S Mbhele), had to be steadied and shifted out to avoid the fallen horse and rider. An Inquiry was opened to establish the circumstances that led to this incident. d) Approaching the 200m, RASCALLION (A Marcus) and LEGITIMATE (K de Melo) brushed. e) Jockeys G Lerena and W Kennedy, the riders of HOEDSPRUIT and NORTHERN SONG respectively, reported that these horses made an abnormal respiratory noise in the running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine. f) KOMMETDIEDING, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M Rix was advised. (MB) g) LEGITIMATE, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer D Lilley, acting on behalf of Trainer DM Kannemeyer, was advised. (CvA) h) RASCALLION, the third-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer VH Marshall was advised.
