THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 1400m PRINCESS CALLA (G van Niekerk) was tightened for galloping room and had to be steadied for a number of strides when racing on the inside of AFRICAN NIGHT SKY (R Khathi) and SILVER OPERATOR (G Behr) which were carried in by QUEEN SUPREME (IRE) (K de Melo) which improved into running on the inside of RUNNING BRAVE (G Cheyne) which initially rolled outwards, was corrected and rolled back inwards. The stipendiary stewards, after assessing this incident, were of the opinion that the racing manners of RUNNING BRAVE (G Cheyne) had been the sole contributor to the interference and consequently Trainer Brankhorst was advised that he needs to take the appropriate measures to ensure that this mare keeps to her racing line if he intends to race her on a left-handed race track in future. b) Jockey W Kennedy charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he struck GOLDEN DUCAT more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey Kennedy signed an admission of guilt and was fined R 1000,00. c) RAINBOW BRIDGE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AE Sands was advised. (SC) d) BELGARION, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised. (MB) e) QUEEN SUPREME, unplaced, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M de Kock was advised.
