THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BLANCHETTA (*G Pieterse) was stubborn to load. b) ICE ICE BABY (W Agrella) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) FOURTH DIMENSION (D Dillon) was hanging in from the 400m. b) CAPRIANA (S Moodley) shifted in away from the crop from 300m. c) At the 400m, BLANCHETTA (*G Pieterse) switched out to continue its run. Thereafter, in the concluding stages, BLANCHETTA (*G Pieterse) shifted out to continue its run when awkwardly placed on the heels of EAGER DUCHESS (E Ngwane) which shifted out away from the crop. d) Jockey C Storey reported that TOP HONOURS (3.10 lengths) made an abnormal respiratory noise in the running. Trainer N Kotzen was advised to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of this filly on return to the stables. e) Apprentice G Pieterse signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse BLANCHETTA more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Apprentice G Pieterse the Board considered the number of times (15) Apprentice G Pieterse struck the horse BLANCHETTA, the distance over which and manner in which, Apprentice G Pieterse used his crop and his record (2) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed. f) EAGER DUCHESS (E Ngwane), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Gareth van Zyl advised (ML). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) TOP HONOURS raced with a tongue tie (advised 31.01.21/07h57). b) STRAIGHT FIRE raced without blinkers and raced with a compression mask (advised 31.01.21/07h47). c) HEARTENING was ridden by Jockey T Godden (advised 31.01.21/09h36) and this filly raced with alumites in front, unshod behind (advised 26.01.21/14h35).
