THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) BALLYGOOD (*J Jacobs) was restless in the stalls.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) Jockey A Mgudlwa reported that he felt something amiss with WHISPERING HILL (8.75 lengths) in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
b) Apprentice K Strydom reported that CASH EXPRESS (9.95 lengths) took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
a) In view of the performance of SPICY HOT (K de Melo) (6.15 lengths, 11/4 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Assistant Trainer B Forster acting on behalf of Trainer W Nel will be advised to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of this filly on return to stables.
c) Jockey S Moodley signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse PERFECT DISPLAY more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey S Moodley the Board considered the number of times (15) Jockey S Moodley struck the horse PERFECT DISPLAY, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey S Moodley used his crop and his record (3) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1500 was imposed.
d) WAVE CREST (*T Gumede), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D C Howells advised (TN).
e) PERFECT DISPLAY (S Moodley), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer M Trott acting for Trainer S J Snaith advised (SC).
