THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LEGAL STAR (M Yeni) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) EMALINE (P Strydom) over-raced in the early stages and thereafter compounded from the 600m. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Assistant Trainer A Ndzilana was requested to report back to the Board on the condition of this filly on return to stables. b) Apprentice C F Dicken the rider of EUPHORIANT dropped his left side rein at the 150m which he was unable to regain. c) The saddle on VELD FLOWER (C Maujean) slipped back in running. This was confirmed by an Official. d) VELD FLOWER (C Maujean), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B D Botes advised (AH). When questioned regarding the poor performance of VELD FLOWER on the 24th of December 2020, Trainer Botes explained to the Board that she is a light framed filly and the run on the 24th had come too soon after the run on the 17th of December 2020. JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) EMALINE examined post race, nothing obvious detected. b) TEQUILA abnormal respiratory noise. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
