THE STARTER REPORTED A) KENNETH MACARTHUR was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED A) At the 350m, COLORADO SPRINGS (G Cheyne) rolled in slightly and brushed the hind quarters of PALO ALTO (K Minnie) which had changed stride and rolled out slightly. This resulted in PALO ALTO being turned outwards and becoming momentarily unbalanced. Thereafter, PALO ALTO and COLORADO SPRINGS raced in close proximity between the 300m and the 150m and again in the closing stages. Stable Employee G Venter acting on behalf of Trainer T J Laing called for a race review which was followed by him lodging an objection on behalf of the second placed horse (PALO ALTO) against the winner (COLORADO SPRINGS), on the grounds of interference from the 200m. After hearing all the evidence and viewing the patrol film from the various angles, the Stewards could not be convinced that PALO ALTO would have finished ahead of COLORADO SPRINGS and therefore overruled the objection and allowed the Judges result to stand.
