THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) ADMIRAL'S GUEST (*G Pieterse) raced fiercely in the early and middle stages. b) An Inquiry will be opened in order to establish why ADMIRAL'S GUEST (*G Pieterse) was carried in and had to ease between the 1400m and the 1300m. c) Apprentice K Strydom reported that BRASS BELL (7.85 lengths) made an abnormal respiratory noise in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) In view of the performance of GLOBAL ASH (L Hewitson) (3.00 lengths, 5/2 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Jockey S Randolph signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse VITUS BEIRING more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey S Randolph the Board considered the number of times (15) Jockey S Randolph struck the horse VITUS BEIRING, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey S Randolph used his crop and his record (1) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R750 was imposed. f) KING'S CRUSADE (W Kennedy), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D S Bosch advised (TN). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) SUPER AGRA raced equipped with blinkers (advised 06.02.21/13h17). b) WALTON HALL was ridden by Jockey J Gates. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) BRASS BELL : Abnormal respiratory noise. b) TILLIEANGUS : Cut into left hind and returned post race having cast the left hind shoe. c) SPIRIT OF MY FATE : Returned post race having cast the left front shoe. d) GLOBAL ASH : Nothing obvious detected.
