THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) GOLDEN ARCHER (*J Jacobs) was stubborn to load. Trainer W Whitehead was advised to re-school this filly.
b) TOMBOLA (D Dillon), ANMER HALL (G Wright) and JANICE'S SECRET (J Gates) lost 1 length, respectively.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) JANICE'S SECRET (J Gates) raced detached from the field throughout. In view of this, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
b) Jockey K Sakayi (SANTA VITTORIA) (AUS) dropped his crop in the concluding stages.
c) In view of the performance of ZERNEZ (*K Strydom) (16.00 lengths, 25/4 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
d) Jockey S Moodley signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse UNDERTHEMISTLETOE more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey S Moodley the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey S Moodley struck the horse UNDERTHEMISTLETOE, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey S Moodley used his crop and his record (3) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed.
e) Jockey S Randolph signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse KEEP ON DANCING more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey S Randolph the Board considered the number of times (16) Jockey S Randolph struck the horse KEEP ON DANCING, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey S Randolph used his crop, the fact that he won the race and his record (2) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1500 was imposed.
f) KEEP ON DANCING (S Randolph), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer W Whitehead advised (TN).
g) LOTUS (W Kennedy), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer A Peter acting on behalf of Trainer P Peter advised (ML).
JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES :
a) ZERNEZ raced with a compression mask.
b) TOMBOLA was ridden by Jockey S Moodley.
