THE STARTER REPORTED A) LOVE POTION was slow into stride. B) MATLOOB was nervous in the stalls. C) PEGA D'ORA was stubborn loading and nervous in the stalls. D) LITTLE DRUMMER BOY, TORRE DEL ORO and SELAILAI were slow away and lost 1 length respectively. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED A) The Stewards reviewed the start of this race concerning PEGA D'ORO (J Gates) in stall gate 8 and established that this gelding became restless and broke open its front gate marginally early. After careful deliberation the Stewards declared this gelding to be a runner as even though it had obtained a slight advantage it had raced to the front and had compounded in the straight. B) Approaching the 1200m, LOVE POTION (*Y Ramzan) which raced keenly in the early stages, GOLDEN MAN (T M Musekiwa) which became severely unbalanced with its rider almost being dislodged and MATLOOB (K Steyn) raced in severely restricted galloping room on the inside of ROCK THE COT (S Fortune) which shifted inwards. An inquiry will be opened into this incident. C) At the 400m, TORRE DEL ORO (L Tarentaal) was directed outwards sharply to avoid the heels of CHAUMASO (S Naidoo) which went amiss and was eased out of the race. In view of this report the Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. D) In the concluding stages SELAILAI (L Bester) which was hanging in, was switched outwards off the heels of OASIS QUEEN (X Ndlovu) and in consequence brushed RIGA D'ORA (R Munger). E) In view of the performance of MATLOOB (K Steyn) (distance 99.99 - betting 10/1) the Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. F) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning MATLOOB, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this filly is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer J V A Strydom was advised. G) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning CHAUMASO, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority for an indefinite period. In terms of Rule 49.7, a veterinary certificate for CHAUMASO must be submitted to the Veterinary Department of the National Horseracing Authority, before it can be entered for a race. CHAUMASO must also gallop for the NHRA veterinary department after which, if found fit to race, will be sent for specimen collection for analysis. Trainer G D Smith was advised. H) The winner OASIS QUEEN was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer J H Strydom advised (LM). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES A) LION KING raced equipped with blinkers (10:45 - 10/02/2021). B) GOLDEN MAN Jockey T M Musekiwa replaced Apprentice J Mphanya (16:09 - 12/02/2021). The Stewards delayed this rider change as late as possible in order for them to establish that all opportunities for a suitable replacement rider were exhausted. As there was no suitable rider to draw 54 kg, the Stewards considered the exceptional circumstances and gave permission for Jockey T M Musekiwa to carry 2 kg over- weight in terms of Rule 55.2. THERE WERE NO RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED A) MATLOOB bilateral epistaxis, 60 days suspension applies.
