THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MYSTERY BOY (B Jacobson) was fractious behind the stalls and difficult to load. Trainer Gareth van Zyl was advised to re-school this gelding. b) GUITAR MAN (S Randolph) was bumped at the start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) From the jump, BROADWAY (S Moodley) elected to drop back and obtain a position at the rear of the field. Thereafter, this colt finished its race off strongly in the straight. b) At the 300m, JACKINAPOT (W Kennedy) shifted out to continue its run. Thereafter, at the 100m, this gelding was bumped out by SONJADOR (L Hewitson) which shifted out away from the crop from the 250m. Jockey L Hewitson appeared before the Board, was shown the patrol film of the race and advised to take more care when shifting ground in future. c) Jockey W Kennedy (JACKINAPOT) reported that the saddle slipped back in the running. This was confirmed by the Stipendiary Board. d) In view of the performance of MYSTERY BOY (B Jacobson) (9.30 lengths, 11/2 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Jockey S Veale signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse LET'S GO FLY more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey S Veale the Board considered the number of times (17) Jockey S Veale struck the horse LET'S GO FLY, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey S Veale used his crop and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed. f) JACKINAPOT (W Kennedy), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G H van Zyl advised (DA). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) GUITAR MAN raced equipped with blinkers (advised 11.02.21/10h16). b) JACOB'S LADDER raced with tongue tie (advised 11.02.21/06h33). c) SWANKING was ridden by Jockey R Danielson (advised 14.02.21/08h08). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) MYSTERY BOY : Nothing obvious detected. SCRATCHINGS : a) GIANTS CASTLE : Not striding out both front (Trainer - 14.02.21/08h08). Rule 53.5 applies.
