THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) PINEVIEW (S Randolph) lost 1 length.
b) SEVENTH SONG (S Moodley) fly-jumped and lost 1 length.
c) BOARD MASTER (E Ngwane) was fractious behind the stalls, difficult to load and withdrawn.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) At the 350m, SILVER CELEBRITY (L Ferraris) which was hanging in between the 600m and the 400m, was carried out by APIS CERANA (*M Zuma) which rolled out.
b) FINAL DESTINY (L Hewitson) was hanging out from the 300m. In view of the performance of this gelding (7.30 lengths, 15/4 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
c) In view of the Starter's report with regard to BOARD MASTER (E Ngwane), this gelding's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 15.02.21 to the 21.02.21. BOARD MASTER may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Assistant Trainer S Ferrie acting for Trainer D Drier will be advised. (SN)
d) Trainer Gareth van Zyl signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 10.5.6.1, in that he failed to notify the Chief Stipendiary Steward within 2 days that the horse CAULDRON is a gelding. Accordingly, a penalty of a warning was imposed.
e) Jockey D Schwarz signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse CASIMIRO more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey D Schwarz the Board considered the number of times (15) Jockey D Schwarz struck the horse CASIMIRO, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey D Schwarz used his crop and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R750 was imposed.
f) NORTHERN WARRIOR (R Danielson), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M L Roberts advised (SC).
JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES :
a) APIS CERANA was ridden by Apprentice M Zuma (claiming 4kg) and this gelding raced with cheek pieces. Reserve runner (advised 12.02.21/12h20).
RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER :
a) SILVER CELEBRITY : The ownership should read :- Mrs S Viljoen and the colours are blue, shocking pink band of diamonds and sleeves, checked diamond cap. (SWE - 11.02.21)
b) CAULDRON is a gelding. Gelded 28.12.20 (advised 13.02.21).
THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED :
a) FINAL DESTINY : Fatigued.
SCRATCHINGS :
a) TALISMAN : Sold without engagement (Trainer - 12.02.21/12h16).
b) GLOUCESTERSHIRE : Not eating up and elevated temperature (Trainer - 14.02.21/08h43). Rule 53.5 applies.
c) BOARD MASTER : Intractable. Withdrawn by the Starter at 17h08 and the betting was 16/1. Rule 53.5 does not apply.
