THE STARTER REPORTED A) THE HIGHWAY MAN and ARCTIC DRIFT were nervous in the stalls. B) MARMARA SEA was stubborn loading and nervous in the stalls. C) QUINTAY (ARG) was slow away and lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED A) Jockey A Domeyer signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he struck the horse ARCTIC DRIFT more than 12 times in the entire race. A penalty of a R1500 fine was imposed. When assessing the penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times that ARCTIC DRIFT was struck (15) and that ARCTIC DRIFT went on to win the race. B) The winner ARCTIC DRIFT was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis, Trainer C Bass-Robinson advised (LM). THERE WERE NO JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES THERE WERE NO RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED A) KIMBERLEY STAR abnormal respiratory noise.
