THE STARTER REPORTED: a) YOUCANTHURRYLOVE (G Lerena) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) FLYING CARPET (*J Solomons) raced wide around the turn and into the straight. b) Jockey L Hewitson's (CORNISH POMODORO) crop was accidentally struck out of his hand by Apprentice P Mxoli (JET START) at approximately the 250m. c) At approximately the 150m, FLYING CARPET (*J Solomons) shifted out away from the crop and had to steady to avoid running onto the heels of YOUCANTHURRYLOVE (G Lerena), which was hanging in from the 300m d) Jockey C Murray reported BARAHIN took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) Jockey C Maujean reported SARAGON made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: f) JET START (*P Mxoli), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer A Peter, acting on behalf of Trainer P A Peter, advised (LN). g) Even though JET START was well weighted for this race, Assistant Trainer A Peter, acting on behalf of Trainer P A Peter, appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding the inconsistent form of this mare. In this regard, Assistant Trainer A Peter explained to the Board that, after winning on the 27th December 2020, she had run poorly on the 2nd of January 2021, which he attributed to the short gap between races. Assistant Trainer A Peter has undertaken, where possible, to space JET START'S races out more appropriately in future. Notwithstanding this explanation, his attention was drawn to the Rules pertaining to in and out running and advised that should this mare not maintain consistent form going forward, she may be suspended. JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) BARAHIN examined post race, nothing obvious detected. b) SARAGON examined post race, nothing obvious detected. SCRATCHED: a) GREEN HAZE change of stable.
