THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) PRINCESS DONELLY (C Storey), BLANCHETTA (*G Pieterse) and I'M SERIOUS (T Godden) were stubborn to load.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) RUBY SKY (W Kennedy) was hanging in from the 800m.
b) HELLO TOMORROW (*M Zuma) was hanging in from the 600m.
c) At the 300m, IRON CHEF (A Mgudlwa) was carried out by RED HOT CHILI GIRL (A Arries) which shifted out sharply.
d) Jockey R Danielson reported that he felt something amiss with KILEIGH'S FATE (9.30 lengths) in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
e) In view of the performance of RACEY STACEY (D Dillon) (10.20 lengths, 20/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
f) Jockey J Gates signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse SHAKEN NOT STIRRED more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey J Gates the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey J Gates struck the horse SHAKEN NOT STIRRED, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey J Gates used his crop and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R750 was imposed.
g) INTUITIVE (K de Melo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer N Roscoe acting on behalf of Trainer D Kannemeyer advised (SC).
