THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At the 350m, PRICELESS RULER (S Veale) had to ease and WILLIAMS LAND (K de Melo) had to ease sharply when awkwardly placed between SOCRATES (D Dillon) which shifted out to continue its run, and SOLID GOLD (R Danielson) which rolled in when awkwardly placed on the heels of GURU'S PRIDE (W Kennedy) which rolled in, marginally. In assessing this incident, the Board took into consideration that there were multiple movements from each rider in question and therefore blame could not be apportioned to any individual rider. Consequently, the Board deemed this to be a racing incident. b) SOLID GOLD (R Danielson) refused to parade. Trainer M L Roberts will be advised that, in terms of Rule 93.2.4, this gelding is suspended until such time as it proves tractable to parade on a race day. c) GURU'S PRIDE (W Kennedy), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G H van Zyl advised (ML). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) SOLID GOLD raced without ear muffs and this gelding raced with compression mask (advised 21.02.21/07h27). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) GURU'S PRIDE : Cut into left hind. b) SOLID GOLD : Post race distress and not striding out right fore.
